Gemma educates our sales team about succulence and designs to create them in a way that will last for months at a time. At Beneva Flowers, we like to insure all our staff is as familiar as possible with not only the designs but the creation of the designs. Gemma is also seeing more succulence used in weddings this year! We like to stay on top of the latest trends insuring our brides have the options available to them when considering designs and flowers for their wedding.
It’s important to us, as a florist, to take a deep hard look at what the industry is doing. We strive for nothing but the best in our selection of flowers, and we
know that you expect nothing less than the best from us. By staying in-the-know of what consumers buying habits are and supplementing that with the best floral design knowledge available, we are able to not only adhere to our customers needs, but to ‘Exceed their Expectations’.
Anyone who has ordered from us, or has stepped foot in our store knows we are here to please them and make their experience the best that it can be. We also put a significant emphasis on recipient satisfaction and experience, which is why our flowers are of the highest quality available. We are here to serve and cater to your floral needs and will never stop learning to deliver the very best to you!
Achievements Learning Center’s pre-kindergarten class celebrated the first day of spring. Laura Rosich, our Senior Designer, volunteered to teach the children about the growth of flowers in spring, and instructed the children on how florists re-create the beauty of nature with our design techniques. It wasn’t long before the children realized how much fun our profession really is!
Each child was supplied with a basket and liner, floral foam, pre-selected cut flowers and greenery. Laura started by showing them how to prepare and green each basket and then followed with complimenting flowers and placement guidelines. The kids got to take it from there and use their creativity. Laura then surprised them with bows and butterflies, and they got the biggest kick out of how much that did to the designs they created. After hearing about thestory from Laura, I am not sure who had more fun. She really enjoyed the happiness this brought to the classroom which really reflects on how special, and what an impact, flowers can make in a person’s life.
SUNDAY, MARCH 25: It was a wonderful evening for all as Tony Bennett ( @itstonybennett ) clearly hasn’t missed a beat through the years. At one point during the concert, the lights went out and all you could hear was the band. It was an awe-inspiring moment as Tony gracefully segwayed into having everyone clap along as he kept the beat until the lights came back on. Talk about a true professional, he didn’t even flinch!
The Van Wetzel ( @vanwezel ) was sold out and I could hardly believe how many people were trying to get in at the door or even buy tickets. Tony Bennett keeps the music alive, that’s for sure. His daughter, Antonia ( @antoniabennett1 ) , opened up for him and joined him in a few songs. She clearly got the gift from Dad, as her voice was clear and enjoyable to listen to. She will be releasing her first CD in a few months.
As a sponsor, we were given tickets in which we gave away in our text-to-win program. Our winners, Al Marr and Judy Williams, were so excited as they picked up their tickets. It’s always nice to pass along these types of gifts to members of our community. I’m sure that they had just as wonderful of a time as I did, as Tony & Antonia lit up the stage with an immense energy.
After the concert, the Van Wezel invited the sponsors and donors back stage for a meet and greet with Tony Bennett. I asked my father to join me for the meet and greet and the look on his face when he met Tony was priceless! Tony Bennett is a few years older than my father, but being so close in age you can only imagine the years of memories that my father had enjoying his music. To see him meet and shake Tony’s hand was a thrill to watch.

What a pleasure it was to see Art Conforti, owner of Beneva Flowers, with the lucky sweetheart of the game today. Art always likes to see the winners and introduce himself. As Art always says, “It’s all about our customers and seeing that smile makes it all worthwhile”. Spring training is a great time in Sarasota as the Orioles truly connect with the community by promoting programs like this.
Welcoming the Baltimore Orioles home to Sarasota is such a pleasure when you get to greet the first 1,000 ladies with a bird of paradise flower! We truly welcomed the Baltimore Orioles (birds) back to paradise.
This was the idea created with Laura Williams of the Orioles last year to kick off the new stadium, and welcome our new Baltimore Oriole family. It was so well received, we continued this year with a little twist. We had employees of Beneva Flowers there to greet the ladies and welcome them to the ballpark with the flowers. PLUS, each flower had a tag on it for people to download our FREE app for a chance to win an iPAD2 from Beneva Flowers. People had a ball. It was exciting to see the interest from fans and friends who were taking the tag and scanning in the app so they too had a chance to win. Dozens of fans registered, and yet this morning more are coming in.
After passing out the flowers, we all gathered in the outfield picnic area for food and drinks while we watched the Orioles and Pirates kick off the season at Ed Smith Stadium. I enjoyed personally seeing so many customers entering the park and a few brides who we had the privilege of providing flowers for their wedding day.
While sitting at the game, people continuously approached me to give them care and handling tips for their flowers. Ushers kept bringing people over and apologizing. I said, “Please, it is my pleasure.” Showing people how to open a bird of paradise manually was a shocker to most and fun for me to show.
Then, in the 6th inning, one lucky fan won the SWEETHEART of the GAME bouquet of BIRDS of PARADISE and was featured on the scoreboard.
Who ever thought flowers and baseball went together so well?
The Sarasota County Commissioner Joe Barbetta said it best, “It’s great to see local business and an event like this all come together.” Community support is what make Sarasota so special!
Frankie was also in it! At age 77, Frankie Valli filled the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center last night with his music with about 2 dozen songs bringing back memories from decades of hits. Having the opportunity to meet him after the show, Frankie was sharing stories about how important it is to watch your health, and his secrets of maintaining his stamina. Eat healthy and get rest. It was pretty simple. What was really fascinating was how interested he was to talk about the flower industry when he learned about my profession.
Frankie Valli worked for Brunner Wholesale in Newark, NJ back in the day. He was telling me that if they had extra carnations or roses, they would bunch them up and sell them on the streets. He went on about care and handling, and a few stories about how the public would buy, and the reasons they sent flowers. If you could have seen the look in his eyes, he really did enjoy sharing his stories. He asked if I knew if Brunner’s was still around, and who the big wholesalers are. He seemed more interested in talking about the flower industry and the change than how he is still belting out those songs at age 77.
An amazing performer, Frankie Valli is from New Jersey and shared some Jersey stories along with how excited he was to learn that Jersey Boys will be made into a movie. The questions remains, “Who will play Frankie Valli?” What an amazing man and legend…. AND former wholesaler!
Every year we are faced with the same dilemma: What’s the hurry to order flowers for Valentine’s Day?
Let’s face it, being the #1 rose holiday has its challenges…
#1 Quality product. The best roses are ordered early and allocated for design first.
#2 Delivery. You wouldn’t want your roses delivered at 4:00pm on Valentine’s Day would you?
#3 Price. Due to the unfortunate circumstances of supply and demand, it gets very hard to find quality product at the last minute.
Rose farms sell out and quite frankly, when the crop is done, it really is done. This is why it is equally as hard to get roses the week after Valentine’s Day as it is before Valentine’s Day.
Ordering early gets you…
#1 Delayed pricing. We won’t charge you until your flowers are delivered! Why wait?
#2 Rouge. The VERY BEST rose in the country, in our opinion, is the ROUGE from Beneva Flowers. It is clearly the very finest with the largest petal count and longest lifecycle. For the select few (that over the top Valentine) we have the PLATINUM or the EPIC 6 foot roses. You just have to let is know now…
#3 Delivery. You can bet you will be getting your roses early on Valentine’s Day. In many cases, the earlier the better right?
#4 Price. You won’t get a better value from Beneva when ordering early. The quality will never be compromised. You may find cheaper roses, but I can personally guarantee it will not be better.
You give flowers because you CHOOSE to. I want to ensure you have the very best flowers and the best value.
Our customers have known to trust Beneva for consistency and value. Being voted #1 florist for over 14 years means the world to us. It is our customers saying, “THANK YOU,” and that they trust us.
